ABOUT LASTING IMPRESSIONS
The Lasting Impressions Online Charity Art Sale benefitting Schoharie Valley, NY has come to a close. We greatly appreciate all of the support we received in this endeavor. Artists, collectors, the staff at The Bennington Center for the Arts and the many others who shared our vision had a part in the success of this sale.
The purpose of this collective effort was to help meet the great need of the people in this region, as they continue to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Irene. Funds from the sale will have a part in that, through the local charity Schoharie Recovery Inc.
However, the people received another benefit from the sale in addition to the thousands of dollars raised. Lasting Impressions was one of countless efforts from across the nation to help this struggling area. This collective generosity, from a local dentist raising money for his patients, to a dry-cleaner restoring a wedding gown, to the artists and collectors of this sale, helped provide a critical component of the recovery process—hope. The funds will help purchase drywall, lumber and screws, and the knowledge that others care has given the people of Schoharie Valley the vision to face the road ahead. The communities are gaining momentum, and because of your help, they can move forward with strength of spirit as they look to the future.

Far inland from the coast, Schoharie Creek rose above its banks and flooded local towns and fields; destroyed crops; drowned livestock; contaminated food and water sources; and destroyed roads, bridges, homes, and businesses..." read full article
